
VOLUNTARY SEED SOURCE LABELING SYSTEM
The genetic origin, diversity, and climate adaptation of native seed is an important factor in restoration success. The voluntary seed source origin label is a tool to increase the information available about a seed lot for end users to increase the quality of restoration projects across Canada. To use the labels for their seed lots, producers sign a production guideline agreement that will ensure high genetic diversity in the seed lot and limit the environmental impact of wild seed harvesting. A list of producers that have signed the guideline document and take part in the program can be found below.
